Questions from an email.....

Getting ready to paint my 20' Bertram Moppie.
I would like to spray with a HVLP gun.
Can I paint Below the water Line?
How much paint, high build primer thinner will I need.
How much will it cost??
What is minimum temp to spray.
Time to dry?
What thickness am I looking for?
Special colors a problem. Am thinking Light Aquamarine.
How much kiwi deck for cap and deck?  $$?

I would like to spray with a HVLP gun.
Can I paint Below the water Line?

What brand of gun?  HVLP guns can put out hot air.  You do not need an exspensive gun by any means, the EMC guys use a cheap gel coat type gun with disposable cups.
This (like all topcoats) is not recommended for underwater use, that being said its perfectly fine below the waterline so long as the boat does not permanently live in the water.

How much paint, high build primer thinner will I need.

Coverage is 250-275 square feet per gallon at 3 mils

What is minimum temp to spray.

minimum is 45.  

Time to dry?
What thickness am I looking for?

you want around 3 mils.  time to dry is dependant on temps and use of accelerator.  You can accelerate the paint quite a bit.  You can get all you coats in one day.

Special colors a problem. Am thinking Light Aquamarine.

We can get any color match, but seafoam might be close to what you descibe.  There is a small charge for custom colors


How much kiwi deck for cap and deck?

80 square feet per gallon.  A boat your size will take just under 1 gallon.
