EMC clear coat question Empty EMC clear coat question

Joel, what is the difference between the 99-ST-Gloss and the 99-BA1-Clear? What applications would you choose one over the other? And do you stock both? I need some.

Thanks!

Hi Larry,

The ST is thicker and designed for wood coating with a higher build - goes on a lot thicker.  The 99-BA1-Clear is the normal topcoat without pigments.  I am not certain if there is much difference other than the viscosity.  They both use the same catalyst and accelerator.

I would use the ST gloss to build a clear coat over wood. The 99-BA1-Clear is what I used over the jet boat to tie all the colors together and to protect the epoxy that covered the wood strips. The BA1-clear is also what I used on my front door (it already had a lot of epoxy build on it)

We have both in stock !

I hope that answers the question.

Thanks Joel. I've used some of both and can't tell much difference between them.

I'll place an order today. Is my custom builder discount still in effect?

Yes Sir. I will make sure the discount is applied - plus free shipping (at least for the rest of this month Smile )

It can go out today if you like....

Another little EMC project. 2 coats of clear over cypress on the swim platform. I really like this stuff! It will get 2 more and then Grip-Tex non-skid.

Thanks Joel. Nicest clear coat I've ever worked with. If it holds up as well as it looks, life is good!

Is the Quantum 99 brushing activator available in pints? I need a little more. If not, send me a quart. Bill this one to me.

Hey Larry, it should hold up as well as the topcoat, which was originally formulated for aircraft, so Im betting it will hold as well as anything else.

They do not offer pints of catalyst, sorry, only quarts.

I will make an order and send an invoice. I think I need to run the payment for that big woodflour order too Smile mind if I combine them?

Not a bit, send me the bill for both. You should have my card on file. I used a little bit of Wayne's materials on a personal project that I need to replace, to finish his boat up.

The wife is real happy with this, it got dining room placement instead of upstairs bedroom Very Happy
